A HANDMADE CHRISTMAS
‘A HANDMADE CHRISTMAS’ is a bespoke Christmas Tree designed by Victoria Tang-Owen, in collaboration with The Upper House and in support of The Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association.
Celebrating Chinese craftsmanship and heritage through a modern lens, Victoria challenges the traditional use of a Chinese screen as a room divider to create a deconstructed tree that is inclusive and embracing. Delicate organza is embellished with motifs of pine, pinecones and golden baubles in Pan Jin Xiu (盤金繡) a 2,000 year old craft exclusively used for the Emperor’s Dragon Robe. Hundreds of hours of skill were poured into the intricate detailing of the Pan Jin Xiu (盤金繡), and the golden Christmas motifs radiate warmth and festivity within The Upper House at Christmas.
