– Honouring craft and inspiring future fashion –

Chinese craftsmanship has a rich heritage and strong cultural significance. To preserve its legacy, HSBC united Hong Kong-based fashion designer Victoria Tang-Owen and Beijing-based digital designer Yimeng Yu to collaborate on fashion for future generations that can bridge the physical and digital worlds.
Victoria and Yimeng Yu came together with a shared goal: merge traditional Chinese handcraft with virtual fashion. Victoria’s incorporation of artisan techniques introduced Yimeng to “the warmth and humanistic value” of ancient craftsmanship, while Yimeng reinterpreted timeless traditions through a virtual-fashion lens. Their collaboration shapes a vision where physical and virtual design coexist in harmony.

Dian Cui is an ancient royal craft once worn as headpieces by nobility. As society rapidly evolves, many traditional crafts risk being lost. Digital fashion changes this by breaking physical limitations - making the impossible possible. Here, ancient traditions inspire modern aesthetics while technology revitalizes heritage.
